Days Off With: Sarah Loven

Welcome to the 2nd installment of Days Off With. This blog series is about how we would spend our day if we had no agenda and could break away from our regular routine. This week we are featuring Sarah Loven, a stylish explorer who is always traveling and looking for the next adventure with her boo, Josh. The two document their wanderlust and life on the road while working on their photography, cinematography, and writing. Sarah has been traveling the road in an Airstream, stopping by places like Big Sur and Sedona. Her photos are so inspiring and we're already day dreaming about our next getaway.

What does a typical day in the life of Sarah Loven look like?

If it’s not cruising the highways in the slow lane, it’s hiding away someplace we’ve discovered while roaming. Even though my every day is about shooting and editing and sharing photos of my life, I try to leave work behind at times so I can experience the moments in the day and not just live though it.

What is the most rewarding part of what you do?

There are pros and cons to the lifestyle I’ve chosen for myself and I try to show it honestly through my blog. When things can seem tough, suddenly it’ll turn around and something amazing will happen, making it all worth it. I guess that comes with the lifestyle of living on the road and having constant change. I think it’s most rewarding getting to look back and see how it’s teaching me to grow- as a person and an artist.

We really admire your carefree attitude when it comes to styling. What styling advice would you would give the readers?

Style has become such a big part of how I express myself. I associate my clothing with how I’m feeling, whether for the day, the month, or the season. I appreciate so many different styles too, and that makes it even more of an artistic expression to take concepts from different styles and apply it to my own. But my advice is to always put on the first thing you feel like wearing. That’s the outfit you’ll feel most confident in! And go with your gut. Sometimes your style will shift as you grow and change as a person. Embrace the change and be excited about experimenting with new wardrobe pieces!

What is the best piece of wisdom you’ve ever been given?

This might sound funny, but it would have to be something my ballet teacher (more like a life coach) told me when I was training to dance professionally. He said ‘If you want it bad enough, be willing to do whatever it takes to get it!’ He also said a lot of other things that have been the foundation of my motivation. Ballet is kind of like bootcamp and it whips you into a more confident and determined version of yourself. I pretty much thank my past in dance for teaching me how to push myself and not give up on my dreams.

We do it for the love and for our lemonade stand days; what motivates you as you create?

I think self expression is my personal reason for creating. I’ve been doing it all my life through art and dance- my dad is even an abstract painter. As I do more with my work and the blog, I really just want to inspire people. Inspire them to live outside the box and maybe push the boundaries a little. We don’t all have to live the same cookie cutter lives. Make up your own job, chase your own passions, and create a healthy life that works for you!

With all your projects and life on the road, how do you balance it all?

It’s tough to spread myself out with so many passions, but it really all comes together thanks to the blog. Even now we (my love and I) and working on our first musical album to become a part of it all. Josh is an amazing guitarist and we’ve been trying to fit in music as the last puzzle piece to our blog. It’s really about completing the experience and creating a place for people to find all types of inspiration.

What was the driving force behind your blog?

Ready Gypset Go may have started as a fashion blog, but I had named it for the dream I had of traveling the country and world. I revisited the original inspiration when I decided to make the blog my full time job. And seeing the world/sharing the world via my camera lens became the driving force for it to grow.

What inspires your style at the moment?

Winter is right around the corner and I totally woke up the other day and decided to shed all colors and go white out my closet, and even our airstream decor. I’m really inspired by beach textures and neutral tones right now, and I’m super excited to start experimenting with the change in my wardrobe.

Can you describe your personal style?

There used to be a time when I would ask people “Is this too crazy to wear out?” Now I just put on what I want, haha! I’ve definitely developed a more bohemian style. I take a lot of inspiration from different cultures and generations. Sometimes I swing all the way to folk, other times I’m feeling 70’s retro. It just depends on my mood. But I wear what makes me feel confident and myself.

What are some of your must-have pieces from our Holiday ‘15 collection?

Gosh, I love it all. Any of the Knitz are pretty much a necessity. Perfectly cozy and ready to wear/easy to style. The Penelope Underwire Bra has also become my new obsession, and it's so flattering on.

What are three things you absolutely cannot live without?

I have to always have my camera, of course. I am a visual memory hoarder. My iPhone (as unhealthy as that sounds), because I love being able to share my work with the ease of Instagram and connect with the world. And a really good romper, because I’m often too lazy to try to style pants and a top in the same outfit, and they’re so easy to throw on! My closet is being taken over by rompers lately...

What’s next on your bucket list?

There are too many places on our travel hit list… Stateside we want to revisit the iconic west and see more of the amazing landscapes we missed during our first time there. Internationally, I’ve had my eye on Morocco for the insane amount of inspiration, culture, and architecture. Although I’d probably never come back if I went there.

What’s your idea of the perfect day off?

Netflix and chill. But honestly, I’m such a hermit and Josh is too. We love to venture out for food and come back and eat it on the bed and watch Hulu. Maybe throw in a beach adventure, and that’s the cherry on top.
